...receiving and unwrapping our 4th badge sent us back to our carefree childhood
days of excitedly unwrapping our christmas prezzies. the anticipation and absolute
delight of discovering the loveliness inside.

thanks to jesse for her obsession with hand woven goodies, for making our end of

...oooh la la and what a picnic it was, from homemade scones, meringues, cheese straws,
traditional lebonese dip, olive bread, and let's not forget our pink eggs, to champers and
gingerbeer. yummy, yummy, yummy. the greenpoint botanical gardens made for the
perfect setting. what a perfect lazy afternoon, i think we're officially the coolest little
club in town...

...as you know with each beautiful bunny comes a bunny book of life. look at this post if you missed it. the booklets are almost done. soon you can have a look-see on the inside too. we just could not resist taking some photos for you of them together...

...so after months of planning, late night sewing, then passing on, and more planning
and sewing and passing on, we have a fab little family of 10 designer bunnies.
each of which was worked on by between 4 and 6 different designers.

thank you, thank you, thank you to our 18 designers who made this all happen. mmmmwah!!!

...don't you just love locos el rabbirto's (translation 'crazy the rabbit') new wrestler cape,

ronel so diligently and patiently continued ilse's embroidery style and made this perfectly

matched little cape for him, locos is complete and ready for the ring...

...isn't she beeeeaaaaauuuudiful! just love lorraine's contribution of the little heart
eyes, which compliment marnhe's fur heart perfectly. and those bloomers...

as you read this, for those unfortunates who couldn't make it, behold! né-né-né-né-né
thanks to the amazing skill and awesomeness of nina and lauren our 3rd badge is

and amazing company. hope that you all enjoyed it as much as we did, and judging

...after dropping out of private school, for a dismally unsuccessful modeling career,

to be pissed at the patriarchal latino culture, but in reality, she's REALLY pissed that
she doesn't look remotely like her heroines, frida kahlo and salma hayek. ~ tessa
alrighty then, so an angry militant mexican bunny with a chip on her shoulder,
and one odd ear, any takers...

...now that's a mouthful, but we just love tessa's new bunny, he's very
religious, a kind hearted bumbling fool, not too clever, sings in the 
church choir and works in the local old age home where his job is 
reading to doddery old grannies and writing their letters ~ tessa
now all we need is someone to really bring out the crazy mexican in him,
any takers???...

...bunny book-of-life...

 ...yay, our dearest carmen, a graphic designer & lecturer at vega, offered to
design our bunnies' book-of-life's. they are hand made, and still need a fabric
strip to bind them, the fabric will match the bunny that the book belongs to.
each contributor to each bunny gets to fill in a small spread and add pics and
a little story of their contribution, we loooove them...

...our first little shwe-shwe bunny is being born as we speak, thanks to ronel,
a new member, for the lovely fabric and buttons. and shwe-etie (pronounced schweetie)
already has a little felt bunny toy. let us know who would like her next...

...freddie gets a face...

 

...isabeau has given freddie an adorable face, see ladies, getting involved can be 

as simple as adding some buttons and a stitched little nose. freddie would love 

some warm wintery clothes, any takers?...

...our very first mexican wrestler bunny is born, from grey and red felt with beautiful
hand embroidered stitching, not to mention his adorable wrestling boots, he's a perfect
mixture of crazy and cute, who wants to play with him?...

...our little no name bunny is nearly ready for it's first contributor, s/he is crocheted
from yummy chocolate brown and cream wool, and s/he'll have jesse's fabric for arms
and ears and legs, but s/he still needs a face and some clothes/accessories,

...freddie is born...

...so who said you need to know anything about sewing or own a sewing machine to
make a bunny, armed with fabric, so kindly donated by leila, i created freddie over the
weekend. i followed NO pattern, just improvised! freddie's ready, so, the question is...
who wants freddie first???...

...and it begins...

...a very big THANK YOU to jesse, for not only donating fabric, but especially
printing these pieces just for us, keep 'em coming ladies, we loooove it...

...and the exquisite bunny corpse...

 

...is born! 

inspired by the surrealist movement's 'exquisite corpse' we've decided that with our small 

hands, we will make a big difference by collectively designing and making 6 designer 

bunny toys. we'll put together various templates of basic bunnies and then send them 

through the group, everyone who wants to play can then add a personal little touch 

to the bunnies making use of their particular skills/talents. once they're finished 

we'll sell them and use the money to support a baby/kid related charity, by buying them

whatever is on their wishlist.

...we can make a big difference, this is our theme for our third chapter. the aim
is to use our collective creative skills to make a difference in the lives of others.
we are planning something really exciting which you can all be involved in,
by contributing with your unique creative skills.

...the bluebird of happiness...

...our dear tessa took it upon herself to do our 2nd badge, the theme was
'things that make you smile' and she interpreted that to the bluebird of happiness,
she then oh so lovingly cut each individual bird out of copper and did some
copper magic to draw out the natural blue, finished off with a beautiful ribbon,
we love it, we love it, we love it!...

...so our 2nd date was absolutely amazing, thanks everyone for coming, it's the people
that make our little 'gang' so much fun. loved that everyone was relaxed, enjoying the

...since i've moved to cape town, i've heard nonstop about saturdays at the
biscuit mill, so when some jozi friends visited me for the weekend, i jumped
at the chance to meander over to woodstock. for most this is nothing new
but i was totally impressed. i loved the stalls (marked-down designer goods,
anyone) and the deli's. here we're enjoying fresh olive bread, lick-your-fingers
humus and roast tomatoes from 'oded's' and my favourite beer from 'brewers&union'
smiles all around! ~ jana...

...a flower offering outside an indian temple gets thrown away so a fresh one
can be placed there daily. ~ carmen...

...siena's first ballet class that moms and dads could attend, ending in an

official photoshoot, of aaaaaaaaaall the 10 meter rack of pretty pink and purple

outfits to choose from, my child chooses the only green outfit, that happened to be

3 sizes too big! for the official pic i convinced her to wear pink, but she

insisted that i put the green outfit on again and take photos myself, aaaaah

the beauty/curse of the independent spirit...
