we got to catch up on our end of semester marking...

...since i've moved to cape town, i've heard nonstop about saturdays at the
biscuit mill, so when some jozi friends visited me for the weekend, i jumped
at the chance to meander over to woodstock. for most this is nothing new
but i was totally impressed. i loved the stalls (marked-down designer goods,
anyone) and the deli's. here we're enjoying fresh olive bread, lick-your-fingers
humus and roast tomatoes from 'oded's' and my favourite beer from 'brewers&union'
smiles all around! ~ jana...

...a flower offering outside an indian temple gets thrown away so a fresh one
can be placed there daily. ~ carmen...

...siena's first ballet class that moms and dads could attend, ending in an
official photoshoot, of aaaaaaaaaall the 10 meter rack of pretty pink and purple
outfits to choose from, my child chooses the only green outfit, that happened to be
3 sizes too big! for the official pic i convinced her to wear pink, but she
insisted that i put the green outfit on again and take photos myself, aaaaah
the beauty/curse of the independent spirit...

...smile...

...writing makes me smile. and launching my first novel makes me smile
even bigger. last thursday my novel 'Vat 'n Gap' was launched in cape town.
and my friends and students showed up in their masses. it was a night to remember.
with lots of bubbles. right now, i'm still smiling, ~ jana

...so this curious case of yarn bombing had us smiling too, saturday was international
yarn bombing day, which basically is wool/crochet grafitti, and two of our members
couldn't help themselves, and we love it!... ~ isabeau & jesse

...first indian meal for only 50 rupees! thats R8 and it was delicious! big smile.
its a veg tali. so 2 stews and a yoghurt thing in bowls with 3 rotis. no cutlery.
and yes there was a cockroach on the wall. still yummy though!
lets pray it didn't include the dreaded delhi belly! ~ carmen from her trip in india...

...went to this lovely new coffee shop, 'skinny legs and all' with some good friends,
had a delicious porcini mushroom soup and a chicken, avo and rocket
open sandwich on mmmmmmm sourdough bread.
food, company and ambience made me smile ~mandy...
